Follow Up Visits: Caring For You
At UMES Orthotic and Prosthetic Services, our commitment to the well-being and mobility of our patients doesn’t end after the initial fitting. We believe in building lasting relationships through comprehensive and compassionate care. Your journey with a prosthesis is a lifelong one—and we’re here for every step.
Personalized Care Through Regular Follow-Ups
To ensure your prosthesis continues to support your health, mobility, and quality of life, we offer a structured follow-up schedule tailored to your evolving needs:
Frequent Follow-Ups in the First 6 Weeks:
During the initial recovery and adjustment period, we schedule regular visits—typically weekly or bi-weekly—to monitor your healing, assess socket fit, address pressure points, and make any necessary adjustments. This period is critical to establishing a comfortable and functional prosthesis.
Quarterly Checkups – Four Times a Year:
Beyond the initial phase, we recommend follow-up appointments every three months. These visits help ensure the continued optimal fit and performance of your prosthesis. We inspect wear and tear, re-evaluate your needs, and perform routine maintenance to prevent issues before they arise.
Continuous Support for a Changing Life
Your prosthetic needs may change with your lifestyle, age, or activity level. Whether you’ve taken up a new sport, changed jobs, or experienced physical changes such as weight fluctuations, we are here to reassess and adapt your prosthesis accordingly. Our goal is to make sure your prosthesis supports your goals—not limits them.
Open and Ongoing Communication
We maintain an open line of communication with all our patients. Whether you have questions, concerns, or simply want advice, our team is always available to help. We strive to foster a supportive, lifelong partnership focused on your success, comfort, and independence.
